Condoleezza Rice, a major power in the US, is widely acknowledged to have been one of the driving forces behind George W Bush's war plans.
But that hasn't stopped the press focusing on the fact that she's single. It's even been said that she might be less inclined to share the administration's enthusiasm for war if she had a boyfriend. So, where does this unease about singleness originate from?
