The murder of 7 year old Toni-Ann Byfield, shot dead with her convicted crack-dealer father in north London two weeks ago, has raised concerns about how well social workers assess the risks posed to children under their protection.
New evidence has shown that vulnerable children are better off staying with their parents but should social services concentrate on supporting mothers and helping them become better parents - while fathers are marginalised and exclude?
Harry Ferguson from the University of the West of England and Andrew Webb, a director of Social Services join Jenni to discuss why some fathers are being ignored.
