Zimbabwean Sculpture Exhibition Wednesday 6 August 2003
Famous for its stone sculpture, Zimbabwe is producing a new wave of women sculptors who are making their professional mark alongside their male counterparts.

Not only are the women artists producing some excellent work but their success is changing men's perception of women.
But how is the female form depicted in African society, particularly with the women sculptors of the Shona tribe. Unlike most western sculptors, these women sculptors of Zimbabwe represent their gender through their work.
Two women artists from Zimbabwe who are making their mark in the traditional artform of stone sculpting, Agnes Nyanhongo and Paula Ware, join Martha to talk about their art and experiences.
'In Praise of Women' stone sculptures created or inspired by the women of Zimbabwe, FREE Exhibition from 7 to 28 August 2003, 11am-6pm daily, at the gallery@ oxo, Oxo Tower Wharf, Bargehouse Street, South Bank, London SE1. Tel: 020 7401 2255
