Summer Sizzlers - Nasturtiums Friday 8 August 2003
Monet had a keen eye for colour and in his garden at Giverny he grew one rather unexpected plant in profusion - the nasturtium.

The humble nasturtium was encouraged to spread across beds and paths in great drifts of strong colour and as Maggie Campbell-Culver, plant historian and author of the Origins of Plants told Corinne Julius, it's a plant that we consistently underestimate.
The Origin of Plants: The People and Plants That Have Shaped Britain's Garden History Since the Year 1000, by Maggie Campbell-Culver, Published Sept 2001 by Headline, ISBN: 074727214X
