Petticoats: Charlie's Dead? Thursday 3 April 2003
You may remember a conversation in last Wednesday's programme about the demise of the petticoat - it's been removed from the retail price index for the first time since 1956.

We reminisced about the sexy underslip, the sugar stiffened net of the fifties and those two expressions you used to hear so often - It's snowing down south and Charlie's dead - both meaning your slip's showing.
The snowing analogy is self explanatory, but what was the origin of Charlie's Dead? Michael Rosen, presenter of Radio 4's Word of Mouth joins Jenni to settle the argument.
