Ventriloquism Thursday 13 February 2003
Image: Nina Conti and her ventriloquist Monkey
Grit your teeth and smile, have a sip of water, even give us a song - and pick up some tips on throwing your voice.

Nina Conti will be joining Sheila, or will it be her companion MONK? to tell us about the fascinating art of ventriloquism. Author Steven Connor joins them as well to talk about the cultural history of this peculiar art - one that goes back to the dark days of medieval witchcraft and demonic possession.
Steven Connor, author of 'Dumbstruck - a Cultural History of Ventriloquism' 458 pages, October 2000, Oxford University Press, ISBN: 0198184336
