Mary O'Malley Monday 25 November 2002
In the 1940's the Irish poet Sean O'Riordan wrote a provocative opening line - "a woman can be a poem, she can never be a poet".

Since then a number of Irish women have set out to prove that a woman needn't be merely a muse. They've also stretched what's acceptable as subject matter to include having babies, contraception and pre-menstrual tension.
All these subjects have been made into poems by Mary O'Malley whose latest collection of new and selected poems, The Boning Hall includes prescribing the pill.
Mary O'Malley joins Jenni to talk about her latest work.
