Jerwood Textile Prize Tuesday 1 October 2002
Last night Shelly Goldsmith won the Jerwood Applied Arts Prize, the most prestigious award in Contemporary British Crafts.

It's given each year to a different discipline. Last year it was ceramics and this time it was the turn of textiles.
All 8 shortlisted candidates are women, and the exhibits range from sculptures knitted out of fibre optics to large open weave pink rubber and foam panels.
Corinne Julius was at the Crafts Council Gallery for the announcement.
