Cinema in the Thirties Friday 30 August 2002
In a trip back to the golden age of cinema, we hear about memories of cinema going in the nineteen thirties.

Young women growing up at this time were the first generation to be formed by cinema, copying the stars' hairstyles, make-up and clothes.
And cinema also influenced them more broadly, as they grew up and learnt how to behave as women.
Claudia Hammond finds out about the luxurious picture palaces and the films that inspired fans to dress like Ginger Rogers and dance like Fred Astaire.
Annette Kuhn, author of a new book An Everyday Magic, which explores the significance of memories of going to the cinema in the 1930's, joins Martha.
