Why do youngsters get involved in political violence?
In the Middle East, Palestinians as young as fourteen have attempted to attack and bomb Israelis. Three schoolboys armed with an axe and explosives were shot dead by Israeli troops as they tried to break into a Jewish settlement. These children left notes for their parents saying that they were willing to die for the cause of their homeland.
Closer to home, children from Northern Ireland have been taking part in "recreational rioting." What turns our children into perpetrators of political violence? Jenni asks Dr Marie Smyth an expert on conflict research in Northern Ireland and Dr Rita Giacaman of Birzeit University, West Bank.
