Children are growing up more quickly, traditional comics such as Bunty, Twinkle and The Four Marys have been replaced by mini versions of women's magazines with names like Sugar, Bella and More. A recent survey from the consumer research company Mintel has found that primary school children are using an increasing amount of beauty products and are ditching their traditional toys.
Mel Gibson from Sunderland University believes the reason children are growing up more quickly is all down to what they are reading. She's studying the changing reading habits from generation to generation. She told Caroline Beck about how she gathers her research.
