Biology and feminism Monday 4 February 2002
A decade ago, psychologist Dr Anne Campbell believed that gender stereotypes only served to perpetuate gender differences and inequality.

But in her new book, A Mind of Her Own, she says that what scientists have discovered about biological differences between men and women over the past 10 years has made her reassess her feminism. Gender stereotypes, she now believes, are merely a reflection of innate differences.
So do new discoveries into the the role of hormones and brain structure really mean that, as far as gender is concerned, biology is destiny? Jenni discusses the issues with Dr Anne Campbell and feminist writer Lynne Segal.
A Mind of Her Own, by Dr Anne Campbell, Oxford University Press; ISBN: 0198504985, 拢18.99
Why Feminism? by Lynne Segal, Polity Press, ISBN: 0745623476, 拢14.99
