Edible Christmas Gifts Part 3 Friday 14 December 2001
Among sweet fanatics there is some controversy about where fudge originated.

One theory is that it was first invented in America, during a catering lecture at a women's college when the toffee demonstration went wrong. The result was a creamy mouth-watering batch of fudge.
And even today we use the phrase 'to fudge it' when we're talking about making a mistake.
Whether it came from America or not, what is certain is that fudge and fudge-like sweets are very popular in this country too.
In the next of the series of edible Christmas gifts Sybil Kapoor shared one of her favourite recipes with Anna McNamee.
Read the recipe.
Sybil Kapoor is author of Simply British (Penguin Books, ISBN: 0140273190, 拢7.99)
