Brenda Edwards Wednesday 28 November 2001
In the late 1980s, Brenda Edwards was Britain's first black woman to be a soloist with a national ballet company.

Now she has produced Hip - a celebration of African Caribbean and Black British Dance - which aims to develop the profile of black dance in this country.
She joins Christopher Nourse, Managing Director of English National Ballet, to discuss why black dancers are more likely to be associated with contemporary dance rather than classical ballet, and how the balance could be redressed.
Hip is at The Place, 17 Duke's Road, London WC1H 9PY. Tel: 020 7387 0161.
