Women's publishers Wednesday 7 November 2001
Silver Moon, Britain's legendary women's bookshop, is to close after 17 years.

Based in London's Charing Cross Road, it's policy was to stock only fiction by women - non-fiction could be written by men or women, but it had to have a female focus.
The owners of Silver Moon, Jane Chomley and Sue Butterworth appeared on Woman's Hour in 1998 to explain the reasons behind their venture. So why have so many women's publishing ventures folded? Do we need 'women's publishers'? And is there still a place for specialist bookshops like Silver Moon?
Author Michele Roberts joins Jenni to discuss the role and future of women's publishing along with Deborah Taylor, editor of Mslexia, a magazine for 'women who write.'
