Elizabeth Jennings Saturday 3 November 2001
Elizabeth Jennings , one of Britain's most famous poets, died this week, aged 75.

A guest on Woman's Hour back in 1996, she described how, at 13, she'd come to love poetry. Religion and mysticism are recurring themes in her work and she didn't shy away from writing about her severe depressions and bouts of mental illness, or about loss and death.
Michael Schmidt was a lifelong friend of Elizabeth's and in later years, her publisher.
He talks to Martha about the work of one of Britain's most popular poets.
