Jenni discovers that there's good news - and bad news - for 1000s of women who find themselves homeless because their partner used their house as surety on a loan.
Last week the House of Lords ruled on a test case which argued that eight women had been unduly influenced by their husbands to surrender their rights to their joint property.
The law lords rejected the argument of 'undue influence', but they did say that banks and building societies had a duty to ensure that the wives have been properly advised before they agree to loans.
Barrister Helene Pines-Richman of the Association of Women Barristers, examines the implications of the ruling and whether wives in the future will be adequately protected.
