At the back of most kitchen cupboards there's at least one piece of Tupperware.
It comes out from time to time because it's actually quite useful.
Tupperware was invented in America in the 1940s by one Earl Tupper.
Allegedly every two and a half seconds there's a tupperware party somewhere in the world.
Claudia Hammond discovers why, with help from Tupperware party host Maria Haines, Joan Jackson, ex-economist for Tupperware, and Alison Clarke, author of 'Tupperware - The Promise of Plastic in 1950s America' (published by Smithsonian Institute).
