Zarina Bhimji's Tuesday 31 July 2001
Zarina Bhimji's family went into hiding when Idi Amin ordered the Ugandan Asians out of Uganda.

Zarina was just nine years old and didn't leave the house for two years. Ultimately the feelings of isolation and terror forced the family to flee the country and she arrived in England unable to understand English or read and write.
Twenty seven years on, Zarina has just won the prestigious EAST award with the photographs of her return visit to Uganda. She explains why she went back.
