Queen Godis
The New York hip hop legend

Queen Godis is one of the world’s leading female hip hop artists. She has performed on stage alongside Herbie Hancock and Angie Stone. This week she has travelled from New York to Manchester to hold a prestigious master class with aspiring female hip hop artists from the north west. Auditions have already been held to find the women to take part in the masterclass - a diverse bunch of girls from African-Caribbean, Asian and white backgrounds - all performers passionate about their art. Caz Graham went along to meet Queen Godis and north west rappers Emz, Lucid, Persia, Nikki, Lady Livewire, and Jahida Chowdry.

The week long workshop of spoken word, rap and hip hop culminates in an explosive night of new words and sounds called “Spoken Like A True” at the Contact Theatre in Manchester on Friday 16th November.
