Getting local women in Sunderland back into education.
The Bridge Project in Sunderland was set up in the eighties as a two-year scheme to get local women back into education. More than twenty years on it's still going strong and thousands of women have passed through the doors, gaining qualifications from forensic science degrees to how to use a power tool.
Sheila Davidson has been there from the start – and she was awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours list. Anne Kostalas has been to the Bridge Project Centre to meet Sheila, and some of the women whose lives have been transformed.
