Dragon Boat Crew 13听Sep 2006
Pool of Life
At the end of this month the world's first ever dragon boat championships for breast cancer survivors are taking place in Singapore. More than fifteen female teams will be battling it out on the water including the UK's Pool of Life crew from Liverpool. Traditionally breast cancer survivors have been warned against repetitive arm movement for fear of exacerbating lymphoedema, a condition causing painful and debilitating swelling in the arms. Yet new research reveals it may actually be beneficial.

Anna Bailey speaks to Mysore Chandrashekar a breast cancer surgeon at the Royal Liverpool Hospital and the Linda McCartney Centre about the long term effects of paddling and joins the听Pool of Life team at the Albert Dock.
