In the nineteenth century, women’s role was frequently idealised as ‘the angel of the house’. But contrary to what we might assume, the decoration and furnishing of the home was not necessarily their responsibility alone. Jane talks to Christine Lalumia, art historian and deputy director of the Geffrye Museum, who’s new exhibition "Choosing the Chintz", looks at the relationship men had with the look and feel of their homes.
