Why don't men want to teach?
There continues to be much lower numbers of men entering teaching, particularly in the primary sphere, where only 13% are male. Amongst the suggested reasons for this is that men are reluctant to work with children because of society鈥檚 anxiety about paedophilia and child molestation. So is our risk averse nation having a negative affect on our schools? Jane is joined by Christine Blowers, Acting General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, and Anastasia De Waal, Head of Family and Education at the think-tank Civitas. |
