New research into the brain suggests that our occasional feelings of split personality are just part of being human.

We are used to thinking of ourselves as having a particular personality type: introvert, extrovert, ambitious or laid back. But many of us have often felt, by contrast, that we are different people in different contexts. This is especially true of the woman who gets the children ready for school every morning, does a full day鈥檚 work, comes home and cooks the evening meal, and keeps a marriage going. Now support for this sense of split personality comes in the form of a new book by award-winning science writer, Rita Carter, entitled Multiplicity. According to the latest neurological research, instead of human beings having just one identity, we actually have three or four. She joins Jenni to explain how we can harness multiplicity in a way that is useful, rather than unsettling.

Multiplicity by Rita Carter is published by Little, Brown. ISBN: 978-0-316-73088-4
