Having and caring for another baby following a cot death
Cot death is still the biggest killer of babies over one month old in the UK today. Much is discussed about the causes and measures a parent can take to prevent it, but how can a parent emotionally come to terms with their baby鈥檚 death and move on听and have another? Twenty five years ago this year, the Foundation for the Study of Sudden Infant Deaths founded its Care of the Next Infant scheme (CONI) to help parents do just that. Jo Carroll, Senior Nurse and CONI Co-ordinator at the Whittington Hospital in London听joins Jane to talk about the kind of advice and support they offer through the scheme now and how it has changed over the years. And Emma Smith will be sharing her experience of the death of her first daughter Maisy and the impact听it has had听on her and听her subsequent听family.
