Sport and Exercise – Women’s Participation 13ÌýNov 2007
While many women exercise they are less likely to engage in team sports. Should more be done to encourage them and if so how?

With five years to go until London hosts the Olympic Games, women’s participation in British sport is still lagging way behind men's, withÌýonly 3%Ìýtaking part in team games. On the other hand, gym membership inÌýEngland is evenly split. So what's the difference between sport and exercise? And with the government advocating that the majority of its targets for healthy exercise should be met through sport, how can more women be encouraged to shift from one to the other? Jenni discusses the issue with Sue Tibballs, Chief Executive of the Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation, and sports minister,ÌýGerry Sutcliffe.Ìý
