The UK’s First Family Drug and Alcohol Court 7Dec 2007
Can itprovide an early tailor-made response and keep families together?

The UK’s first Family Drug and Alcohol court in being piloted in London in January 2008. Based on a US model, it aims to provide an early response to children who are in danger of being taken into care because of their parents' addiction. Currently an estimated two-thirds of children are removed for this reason.

Jane is joined by Judge Nicholas Crichton the driving force behind the scheme, Trevor Moores whois Head of Westminster’s Local Children's Services, and Sharon Simms, a former addict who lost her children into care,and who willact as a “mentor mum” to other addicts.
