Summer Born Children Thursday 4 September 2003
Thousands of children will be experiencing a rite of passage this week, as they head off for their first day at school.

For many children, who have only just turned four in the last couple of months, it will mean learning alongside children who are almost a whole year older than they are.
New research suggests that these younger children may be at greater risk of mental health and emotional problems, and are more likely to be classed as having special needs.
Tamsin Ford, a child psychiatrist at the Institute of Psychiatry in London and one of the authors of the report, and Jean Robb, an educational therapist, join Jenni to discuss what can be done to support these summer babies.
