The award-winning American writer Joan Didion is best known for her memoir, The Year of Magical Thinking. In it she told of her struggle to come to terms with the sudden death of her husband after nearly 40 years of marriage.
Following the book's phenomenal success, the author adapted her book for the stage. In the wake of a sell-out run on Broadway, the play has come to the National Theatre in London.
Our Arts correspondent Rebecca Jones has been talking to Joan Didion, the play's director Sir David Hare听and the lead actress Vanessa Redgrave.
