Helen Mark visits the villages of Hatherleigh and Great Torrington in Devon which听were听devastated by the Foot and Mouth outbreak in 2001.听The drained community fought back by听establishing听an annual听classical music festival, now in its sixth year.
The is a nine day classical musical festival spread over a thousand square miles of Devon. It was started in 2001 as a direct response to the Foot and Mouth crisis which devastated the community.
Since then, it's continued to grow and has become one of the most respected festivals of its type in the country.
It hit the headlines last year when an 拢85,000 hand built Bosendorfer piano intended for the festival was .
Helen visits听two of the towns involved,听 and , and attends a couple of performances as well as the Hatherleigh market and livestock market.听
She examines听the success of the festival and how it鈥檚 helped the area recover. Helen and her guests also reflect on the current crises in farming.
