The New Radio 2 Arts Show celebrates the work of Liverpool-based arts organisation DADA, whose yearly festival has gone from being a one-off regional event to the world's leading disability and deaf arts celebration.

And as actor and performer Mat Fraser explains, a vital part of this grass root development is working with young disabled people who are still searching to find their voice.
Mat Fraser: When I was growing up as a young disabled person wanting to do the arts, there were no disabled adults to look up to. It wasn鈥檛 until I was 32 that I could even call myself disabled, and it鈥檚 important that young people see me and my peers and think 鈥渨ell I don鈥檛 want to do what Mat does, I wanna do..you know鈥濃ut we, at least we lay down a scene on a landscape that they can then decide what they want to do with.
Liz Carr: And as Mat says, there are now role models 鈥 there are disabled characters in mainstream shows like Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Eastenders. And unlike, maybe 10 years ago, disability isn't the focus of their storylines, but rather incidental or not even mentioned at all.
