For their second consecutive night at the Proms, Sir Simon Rattle and his Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra take on Mahler’s gargantuan and grippingly intense Symphony No. 6

The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor Dalia Stasevska perform a remarkable work by Julius Eastman alongside Sibelius’s triumphant Fifth Symphony and Gustav Mahler’s songs of love and loneliness, sung by the inimitable Jamie Barton

The National Youth Orchestra, comprising some of Britain’s most talented young players, performs Mahler’s anguished, ultimately triumphant Symphony No.1, alongside works by Wagner and Missy Mazzoli and a new commission from Dani Howard.

Ryan Wigglesworth conducts the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Brahms’s Third Symphony and Schoenberg’s sumptuous tone-poem Verklärte Nacht, before mezzo-soprano Alice Coote lends her glowing voice to Mahler’s devastating Kindertotenlieder.

The entire ±á²¹±ô±ôé family visits from Manchester to celebrate Sir Mark Elder’s last season as Music Director after 25 years in the role. Together they present Sir James MacMillan’s Timotheus, Bacchus and Cecilia and Mahler’s life-affirming Symphony No. 5.
