Singer and lyricist Hamed Sinno reflects on the success and silencing of the Lebanese indie band they co-founded, Mashrou鈥� Leila
Hamed Sinno was a member of the band Mashrou鈥� Leila before it even had a name. They became their frontman and lyricist, and were stunned when their danceable, political, cheeky music found an audience in the middle east and beyond. But as their status as LGBTQ icons grew, so did attention from those who meant them 鈥� and their fans 鈥� harm.
