The first McDonald's in Moscow
The American fast-food chain was a huge hit when it opened in the Soviet Union in 1990. Hear from a McDonald's executive and a Russian who worked at the first restaurant.
Following the closure of McDonald鈥檚 in Russia, we鈥檙e going back to January 1990 when the global fast food giant opened its first restaurant in Moscow. In 2015, Mike Lanchin spoke to George Cohon, the man who brought the Big Mac to what was then the communist USSR, and to Sveta Polyakova, one of the first locals to work there.
