Jaylann
DJ Edu meets Jaylann, one of a new generation of Moroccan women making successful careers in music, and discovers a touching reason behind her drive for success.
Jaylann is one of a new generation of Moroccan women making successful careers in music. She won over the Moroccan people with her ‘extremely groovy’ voice, on TV talent shows including The Voice and Coke Studios. She has had a string of hits, including Mama, which got over three million hits on Youtube.
In conversation with DJ Edu, she talks about her recent collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats artist Idahams, why she changed her name from Khaoula Moujahid, and her musical family. Touchingly, she says she wants to be a star to make her father’s unfulfilled dreams come true.
