Joshua Buatsi and Lawrence Okolie
Professional boxers and Olympians Joshua Buatsi and Lawrence Okolie share their favourite music with DJ Edu.
This week’s show packs a punch as TIA lands a one-two combination with professional boxers and Olympians Joshua Buatsi and Lawrence Okolie.
Born in Accra, Joshua moved to London when he was nine and went on to win a bronze medal for Team GB at the 2016 Games in Rio. But not only is he fiercely proud of his Ghanaian roots, he loves the music of his homeland as well. He tells DJ Edu why he’d pick Stonebwoy to sing him into the ring, and explains why his mind was blown hearing Kumerica-style beats on his recent trip home.
Undefeated cruiserweight Lawrence was also part of Team GB in 2016, and is set for his first world title fight in 2021. With parents hailing from Nigeria, he grew up listening to the likes of 9ice and D’Banj. We get to hear some of his own rap skills, and he reveals a rather questionable guilty pleasure that doesn’t quite match his tough guy image…
Plus, DJ Edu will bring you his weekly mix of the freshest new tracks and beats from across the Motherland in the 10-in-10.
