Christina Rickardsson grew up in extreme poverty in Brazil. From hunting animals for food while living in a cave to being part of a tragic incident on the streets of Sao Paolo, her early life was fraught with pain. After being adopted by a family in Sweden, Christina has had to come to terms with her two contrasting identities.
The American city of New Orleans is 300 years old this year. To mark the occasion, Outlook's Emily Webb has been speaking to one of the most legendary residents of this famously musical town, Irma Thomas, the ‘Soul Queen of New Orleans.’
