Is the Resignation of a British Minister Globally Relevant?
Following an OS report on the resignation of a UK minister, one listener thinks this isn’t global news, and the producer of ‘In the Studio with Lee Child’ answers your questions.
International Development Secretary Priti Patel became the second cabinet minister to leave Theresa May’s government in recent weeks, after unauthorised meetings with Israeli officials. On ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ World Service, the story was broken on Newshour and featured in OS the following day. Listener Piet Boon from Amsterdam questions OS editor Simon Peeks about why this Britain-focused story is relevant to a global news audience.
And, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ producer Kevin Core observed Lee Child as he began work on his 23rd Jack Reacher thriller for the World Service programme In the Studio. Kevin spent three days in the author’s Manhattan apartment as he wrote the first pages of a new novel entitled Yesterday. Rajan puts questions to Kevin from a panel of listeners who are curious to hear more about his unusual experience.
