Coronavirus: Californians ordered to stay at home

Governor Gavin Newsom said people should only leave their homes when necessary during the pandemic.

Forty million people in California - the most populous state in the US - have been ordered to stay at home, to help fight the spread of the coronavirus. Residents may still leave their homes to buy groceries, medicine or do exercise. Also: Four men have been executed in India over one of the country's most notorious rape and murder cases, and this month marks the 50th anniversary of Miles Davis’ famous jazz album, Bitches Brew.
