US Senate adopts ground rules for Trump's impeachment trial

No new evidence was heard in 13 hours of debate.

Eleven amendments put forward by the Democrats calling for witnesses and new documents to be considered were defeated by senators from Mr Trump's Republican Party. The trial has now adjourned until Wednesday afternoon.

Also on the programme, the number of people now showing symptoms of the newly identified coronavirus has reached 440, according to Chinese authorities though international medical teams suspect the number is probably larger than that. We hear from an epidemiologist from the Chinese Centre for Disease Control. And what effect has the wildfire crisis in Australia had on Aboriginal peoples?
