Simon Cheng, a former employee at Britain's consulate in Hong Kong, has told the 成人快手 that he was shackled, blindfolded and held in stress positions. He said he was accused of inciting unrest in Hong Kong. Britain's Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, has summoned China's ambassador to answer the allegations.

Also on the programme: a businessman who was being investigated by the murdered Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia has reportedly been arrested at sea in his yacht off Malta. And polls have opened in a referendum in southern Ethiopia on whether a regional state will be created for the Sidama people - the country's fifth largest ethnic group.
