African Union suspends Sudan after deadly violence

Sudan has seen a violent crackdown against protesters, which the opposition says killed 108 people.

The African Union has suspended Sudan's membership "with immediate effect", amid an upsurge of violence in the capital that has seen dozens killed; the British prime minister, Theresa May, will officially step down as the leader of the Conservative Party on Friday, but will remain as prime minister until her successor is chosen; and Mexico has deployed 6,000 members of its National Guard on its border with Guatemala in an attempt to stem the flow of migrants heading to the US.
