Death toll from Cyclone Idai hits 300 and continues to rise
200 people are already confirmed dead in Mozambique and 100 in Zimbabwe.
300 people are now known to have died after Cyclone Idai hit southern Africa. 200 of the victims were in Mozambique, and 100 in Zimbabwe, where the Minister of Defense, Oppah Muchinguri, has admitted his government failed to anticipate the magnitude of the tropical storm.
The first burials of victims of the two mass shootings at mosques in New Zealand are being held in the city of Christchurch. There's been criticism of the authorities for delays in returning the victims' bodies to their families for a speedy burial. But the chief of police said evidence had to be gathered for a successful prosecution.
