Jessica Cottis

Jessica Cottis recently completed a two-year appointment as assistant conductor at the 成人快手 Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Fellow in Conducting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2010 she conducted the premi猫re of James Dillon's Nine Rivers with the 成人快手SSO and made her 成人快手 Proms debut, also conducting works by Dillon. In addition to guest appearances with the 成人快手SSO, her recent and future engagements include performances with the London Sinfonietta, Orchestras of Opera North and Scottish Opera, Sydney Symphony, and Red Note Ensemble.
Opera engagements include the premi猫res of Anna Meredith's Tarantula in Petrol Blue for Aldeburgh Music, Martin Georgiev's The Mirror at the Royal Academy of Music, and Rory Boyle's Kasper Hauser in Nuremberg. She is artistic director of Bloomsbury Opera, and recently conducted a new production of Weill's The Seven Deadly Sins - her debut for Scottish Opera, where she will return in 2013.
Jessica Cottis was awarded a first class honours degree from the Australian National University and continued her studies as an organist in Paris. A hand injury subsequently halted her playing career and she read Law at the University of London whilst studying on the postgraduate conducting course at the Royal Academy of Music. This year she appears on the 成人快手 Two series Maestro At The Opera as conducting mentor to DJ Trevor Nelson.
