The Leigh woman who rescued Japan's sushi industry
Kathleen Drew-Baker, a University of Manchester botanist, saved sushi with her research.
Kathleen Drew-Baker was a botanist at the University of Manchester in the 1930s, and her research into seaweed helped save the sushi industry after World War 2.
Now, a town in Japan celebrates her life with an annual festival and a statue of the woman from Leigh.
