‘It’ll be like having the Eiffel Tower in Redditch’
Hundreds of residents say a planned 98-foot mast would 'destroy' their neighbourhood. National Grid want to erect a communications Tower at a sub-station on the Malvern Road, in the middle of a residential area.
Residents say the development would pose problems for the area's wildlife, with a public meeting called to thrash the dispute out.
Tom Edwards reports.
In a statement to the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ, National Grid said: "While the proposal has been developed to minimise the visual and ecological impact, we are always committed to listening to public feedback, as we seek to enhance the safety and security of electricity in the region."
Because there's been so many objections to the initial plans, they will have to be voted on by Redditch Borough Council's planning committee, at a date yet to be fixed.
