Soviet double agent who prevented World War III
Oleg Gordievsky, the longstanding KGB double agent who defected from the Soviet Union to Britain, has died peacefully at home in Surrey. He was 86. He was said to be Britain鈥檚 most valuable-ever Russian spy. Newshour's Paul Henley spoke to Ben Macintyre, the author of - The Spy and the Traitor: The Greatest Espionage Story of the Cold War - about Oleg Gordievsky's remarkable double life, in which he was credited with preventing World War III. How was he this significant?
