The Wharf Writers Group are based at the Wharf Theatre in Devizes in Wiltshire. They get together and share their writing and also record their stories and audio plays and release them as a podcast called ‘Where’s the Cat?’. This one is one of the latest stories they’ve sent us on the uploader. It’s called ‘Identity Crisis’. Alexis Brooks from Somerset uploads her poem about a librarian and a mouse. Rachel Burrows from Potterne has created a poem about life as a military wife - inspired by a poetry prompt she discovered online. Adam chats to poet and author Luke Palmer from Box about being added to the longlist for The Carnegie Medals 2025 – honouring those who write books for children and young people. Judged by librarians! Luke’s book ‘Play’ about four boys growing up together is the longlisted book. He’s a secondary school teacher and also did the masters degree in Creative Writing at Bath Spa.

Sarah Teasdale uploaded her poem called ‘A Screw Loose’ which is about her dad. She says on the uploader that he was “quite a character" and this poem tracks a DIY task that takes a turn for the worse, thanks to the family dog... Marion Bond from Lechlade-on-Thames has uploaded her answerphone themed poem about a sticky breakup. Adrian Kerton's daughter Heather has written him a poem called 'Dragons' for father's day. Adrian has recorded and uploaded it for us. And Adam Elms showcases his subtly humourous poem about a superhero with a long list of medical issues...
