Health warning as cold snap sets in
As the cold weather continues to grip the country - NHS trusts in our area are reminding us to think twice before calling 999 or heading to A&E.
The new Urgent Treatment Centre at James Cook in Middlesbrough has helped A&E see a 36 per cent reduction in attendances since it opened 6 months ago But, South Tees NHS Foundation Trust says it plans to open additional beds at James Cook and the Friarage to ease winter pressures.
The Trust is also urging us to stock up our medicine cabinets, get the flu and Covid boosters if you're eligible, and order repeat prescriptions in advance.
Claudia Robinson went to meet Amy Oxley, Deputy Director of Nursing for South Tees NHS Trust to find out more.
